What Do You Mean By “Going Green”?

Going green in the workplace can mean many different things depending on what exactly you do for a living. But you can count on the fact that a greener workplace offers many advantages such as healthier workers and higher productivity. There are some general guideline that can be applied across the board that will allow you to turn your business into an ecologically friendly environment that displays compassion for businesses of the future. Everyone’s favorite time of the day at work is lunch, so we can start with some tips there. Bring your lunch in reusable containers. We produce an extraordinary amount of waste with plastic wrappers and other unfriendly products. Delivery and take-out produces needless containers and by cutting this food out of your diet, it is likely that you will be eating healthier as well. But we all know that some paper usage cannot be avoided, so be sure that you are using recycled paper. Pens and pencils that are made from recycled materials are available as well. People waste billions of dollars a year on gasoline and lose countless hours of their lives in rush hour traffic. Why not consider biking, walking, or some other form of low fuel consumption transportation to get you to work? If you can employ exercise in your daily commute, both your body and the environment will thank you. We already mentioned paper and it cannot be stressed enough that digitizing as much as possible will save countless numbers of trees. The future is headed in that direction already, so why not get a head start? But in light of using electronic equipment as most of us do, be sure to set computers and other electronic devices to settings that will consume the least amount of power. Keeping a check on power consumption also includes turning off lights when a work space is not in use. Do all of these things and you are on your way to a greener workspace! Sharing information with your co-workers or bosses also goes a long way in making an impact on the world as it relates to the workplace. The information party rocks on: Recycling tips: making the most of recycling at home
